This is a tasty green consumed extensively in Malaysia, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Recipes made of this green are very tasty as well as healthy. It cools and energizes the body. The more mature greens of this family is the ‘thandu keerai’, Mulai Keerai ,Sivappu Thandu Keerai and Kuppai Keerai.
A very good blood cleanser, this green is! It also strengthens the heart. It loosens stools and helps treat painful and difficult urination due to an increase in body ‘heat’.
After cleaning thoroughly including the roots (if the shoots are young you may add the roots also) pound 3 or 4 cloves of garlic and 4 to 5 small onions and 2 green chilies and a bit of salt and leave it to cook for a while.
The beauty part is here. (You must take 1/2 glass of coconut fresh milk with only 1/2 glass for 1/2 coconut.)
and pour on the cooked dish just before you close the oven. The coconut smell must be there. This will be delicious to eat with rice or spread on bread. You can add dhall also.
