SOLANUM TRIBULATUM
Not most people seem to know this herb named "Thuthuvelai" But since I have given its English name it is easier for our Malaysians to find, and plant it and grow near your fences. The benefits are many. You may see and feel your self after consuming it. The leaves are effective in neutralizing the excess heat and gas in the womb and it helps men in vitality.
Thuthuvalai leaves were well known among the Indians long ago. Nowadays this herb has lost its identity. But in the urban areas still, now it is cultivated
This is a creeper and is commonly grown in homes and the leaves and stem have small prickles.
This is a tasty dish.

Thuthuvalai Thuvaiyal
Ingredients:
Thuthuvalai Leaves 1 handful
Small Onion 2 medium
Green chilies 2
Coconut scrapped 2 tablespoons- (must heat it until it turns brown)
Garlic 2 cloves
Curry leaves 1/2 handful
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash the leaves thoroughly in water.
Grind the leaves, onion, green chilies and coconut scrapings, and salt in a grinder into a smooth paste. With this, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of tamarind while grinding or tamerind powder. It tastes good.

Thuthuvalai Soup
When your body feels very lethargic and weak then a hand full of these green leaves boiled with RASAM gives back the full energy. This is called Thuthuvalai Soup. You may get it dry from our center. You can always use it for rasam INDIAN SOUP
